Before you even think about making your 2024 New Year’s resolutions and self-growth goals, it’s a good idea to know what you’re dealing with — astrologically speaking — in the coming year. After all, doesn’t it make sense to strategically work with the stars instead of against them?
While we’re firm believers that you make your own “luck,” there are specific energy configurations in the skies that are more supportive of certain life goals than others. And depending on your zodiac sign, these energies might be more in favor of your personal expansion, prosperity, love life, and/or your career.
With that in mind, here’s a breakdown of the biggest astrological happenings of 2024 — and how they might shake up your year in the best possible way.
The Biggest Astrological Events of 2024 – Mark Your Calendar, Stat

After 12/31/23 (the very symbolic 123123), says Farber, “New Year’s Day coincides with the end of the Mercury retrograde period that started on December 13, 2023, and gives us a clue to the theme that will be repeated by the planets over the next 12 months: the shaking off of old limiting concepts, behaviors, and technologies, and the tentative embracing of the new normal.”

January to April: Expect Changing of the Guard and Transformation
Perhaps the biggest news of the year is Pluto moving into Aquarius on January 20 — which, according to Adama Sesay, a professional astrologer at LilithAstrology.com and author of Black Moon Lilith Rising and Black Moon Lilith Cosmic Alchemy Oracle, initiates the transformation of our global society, governments, and the collective consciousness. In other words, brace yourself for a major shake-up worldwide on political, social, and economic levels.

What’s behind this? “Pluto in Aquarius is the most rare and impactful transit of 2024,” Sesay tells DailyOM. “We had a sneak peek into this once-in-a-lifetime event from March 23, 2023, through June 11, 2023. The reason this is significant is because Pluto is a slow-moving planet, and the last time we experienced this specific [transit] was in the late 1700s, during the American and French revolutions. Many astrologers theorize that this is triggering the start of the Age of Aquarius — [which represents] a total shift in the collective ideology and power structures of society.”
A few months down the pipeline, fresh energies will usher in springtime. “The last week in March and the first week in April will see four planets in the sign of Pisces: Venus, Mars, Saturn, and Neptune, the planetary ruler of that sign,” says Farber. “This two-week period will be significant worldwide and marked by genuine compassion and intuitive breakthroughs that will [prevent the world from] bringing in futuristic policies too quickly.” (Now we can collectively sigh.)
July to August and Beyond: A Summer of Self-Reflection
The fiery summer air brings a welcome dose of self-empowerment, as the North and South Nodes transition to Aries and Libra, respectively, on July 17, signaling a collective shift in our destiny and life path. These nodes are two points in the moon’s orbit that have significance in astrology, with the North Node representing your destiny and the South Node signifying your blind spots as well as your natural talents.
Sesay points out that the whole purpose is to encourage us to release limiting relationships, contracts, and bonds with others in order to self-actualize and empower who we truly are as individuals. (This is a huge boon for Aries and Libra, which we explain further below.)
On the flip side, Jupiter makes a 90-degree square — which is an astrological aspect that represents conflict — to Saturn on August 19 and again on December 24, Farber says. These periods will likely put our resolve to the test, and might bring events that make us doubt ourselves. The key is to stay strong, trust our intuition — and know that this bout of self-doubt will pass.
Eclipse Season
On top of all of that, there are three lunar eclipses (March 24–25; September 17–18; and October 17) and two solar eclipses (April 8 and October 2) in 2024, Farber tells us. Solar eclipses, which happen during a new moon, represent new beginnings. Lunar eclipses occur on a full moon and are associated with endings.
“Eclipses always herald surprising and usually unforeseeable events, and have a tendency to bring reversals to movements, trends, and even individuals,” explains Farber. While eclipses can get a bad rap on a collective level, he says, they can help us become more aware of limiting behavioral and thought patterns.
Bottom line: This year supports the creation of a whole new world — and a whole new you.
Why 2024 Is Going to Be a Lucky Year (Mostly)
Jupiter, aka the planet of luck and growth, will be sitting in Taurus during the first half of the year before moving into Gemini on May 26, Sesay tells us. “Gemini and Taurus placements will receive support and personal expansion from this transit, especially if they have Jupiter, sun, moon, or rising signs in those two zodiac signs.”
No worries if not, though, as you can still benefit from the juiciness of the 2024 Jupiter transit. It can be helpful to look back to the major life events of 2012 to see what area of your life was activated, since those patterns are likely to repeat themselves.
“Others can take a look at which house [such as the fourth house of family and home, the eighth house of others’ resources and inner transformation, the seventh house of partnerships, or the twelfth house of subconscious behaviors] or other planetary placements where they have Taurus and Gemini to see what area of life they will receive a burst of luck,” Sesay says.
Speaking of Jupiter, Farber says that one of the most potentially beneficial astrological aspects possible occurs on April 20 — and that’s the conjunction of the planets Jupiter and Uranus. “This aspect occurs every 12 or 13 years and represents a sudden increase in the moving forward of forces that can benefit humankind.
“With this conjunction happening in the Earth (materialistic) sign of Taurus, it is easy to see the potential for 2024 being a luckier year in general,” Farber continues. “Uranus is the planet of revolution and disruption, so we may see disruptions with potential benefits in our values and in our money.”
Now, getting back to you: Another energetic upliftment you will likely feel is when Jupiter makes a “sextile” (a “favorable” astrological aspect when two celestial bodies are 60 degrees apart) to the comet Chiron — aka “the wounded healer” — that’s associated with past traumatic events, according to Farber.
“I’m watching the period around the 12th of October as a time when we may be given a boost of energy and the desire to have another go at coming to terms with one or more nagging problems we have avoided dealing with,” he says.

What You Can Expect: Pluto in Aquarius moves into your professional sector for the next 20 years in January, which indicates the potential for big, sweeping, impactful change, Sesay shares. You will also experience a burst of personal growth in the first half of this year with lucky Jupiter moving through your zodiac sign, forming a transformative connection with Pluto.
And don’t be surprised if an opportunity for romance shows up at the end of April, when Jupiter and Uranus conjoin in the sign of Taurus, Farber tells us. To you, Taurus, love is a natural, sensual, lusty experience that requires loyalty and devotion. Staying true to what you believe is key to your relationship success.
3. Gemini
The Overall Vibe: You’re in luck this year.
What You Can Expect: Jupiter, the planet of expansion, growth, and luck is moving into your zodiac sign in May, Sesay says — adding that it’s an event that happens once every 12 years (think back to 2012 for reference). When this occurs, Jupiter can bring change and breakthroughs into your world. It’s time to grow into the person you were always meant to be.
If you’re looking for love in 2024, don’t forget that Geminis need stimulating communication, Farber says. And the good news is that your chances are strong of filling that cup this year.
4. Cancer
The Overall Vibe: It’s your year of public recognition.
What You Can Expect: You can thank the North Node in Aries shepherding you toward professional success with leadership and passion, according to Sesay. Many of you will also start to see the fruits of your labor and receive breakthroughs through your network and connections.
On the romance front, you need a partner who appreciates your hard work, nurturing personality, and involvement with family, Farber says. Take care to fine-tune your gut instincts this year, especially when choosing and prioritizing your relationships.
5. Leo
The Overall Vibe: You are entering into a new cycle in your relationships this year.
What You Can Expect: Pluto, the planet of change and transformation, will move into your relationships arena, Sesay shares. When this occurs, deeper commitments, much-needed endings, and change will come to your partnerships. And take note of the Mars in Leo retrograde occurring in December. Mars is the planet of drive and action, so this will trigger you to slow down and revise your creative vision for your life.
Looking for a new partner? Farber says that this year (and forevermore), you require another whose enthusiasm and zest for life matches your own, not to mention a healthy level of self-esteem.
6. Virgo

Since you, Virgo, tend to be discerning, museums, lectures, classes, restaurants, galleries, concerts, and even libraries are the kinds of venues where you can be at your best and ready to meet others this year, Farber says.
7. Libra
The Overall Vibe: Expect a deepening of your romantic commitments.
What You Can Expect: The Aries North Node and eclipses in both Aries and Libra are bringing change to your love life, Sesay says. Expect a marriage commitment or deeper bond for some Libras, or a change for the better and the need to choose your needs over others this year.
During the retrograde period of Saturn, which lasts from July to November, be ready for some delays and obstacles when carrying out plans, Farber cautions. Best to keep things simple.
8. Scorpio
The Overall Vibe: Your home and family life will experience change and upheaval this year.
What You Can Expect: You attract your loved ones like a magnet and have an almost psychic insight into the motives and secrets of your mates, Farber says. And according to Sesay, thanks to Pluto in Aquarius’ entrance into the home and family sector of your natal chart, moving or signing new housing agreements that could involve a romantic partner may be in the stars for you this year.
With Jupiter in your contractual house the first half of the year, Sesay adds, new business collaborations could be waiting for you as well.
9. Sagittarius
The Overall Vibe: Changes in the lives of siblings or the need to shift your creative writing, marketing, or communications strategy are at the forefront.
What You Can Expect: You are inventive, generous, and good-natured in a relationship, Farber says — not to mention totally honest with your loved ones. You might expect your relationships and love life to improve in the second half of the year, Sesay says. This is due to lucky Jupiter moving into this area of your life.

10. Capricorn
The Overall Vibe: Your finances and how you earn your income are entering a new cycle.
What You Can Expect: Pluto in Aquarius will bring shifts, says Sesay, changing how you monetize your talents. You will also reassess your worth, removing those who do not honor it. Moving homes and changes around your career may also be in store, thanks to the nodes of the moon centered in this area of your life.
This year, Farber adds, your relationships will benefit, too — and they might be tied to your career choices.
11. Aquarius
The Overall Vibe: It’s an extremely important year!
What You Can Expect: Pluto in Aquarius will bring complete transformation and change in who you are, your identity, and how you show up in the world, Sesay explains. Creative growth or even the birth of children in the second half of the year may be a focus for some Aquarians when Jupiter moves into Gemini.
If someone doesn’t support your dreams this year, let them go, Farber advises. After all, Aquarians don’t necessarily look for a love interest who will agree with their rather radical opinions, but they need support. Aquarians know that the better the friendship, the better the romantic connection.
12. Pisces
The Overall Vibe: Money is going to be a focus.
What You Can Expect: This is because of the Aries North Node and major eclipse. Reclaiming your power, quitting what doesn’t serve you, and owning your self-worth are all important themes this year, Sesay says. Jupiter in Gemini may create positive results and growth in your home and family life in the second half of the year.
Remember that you are the romantic of the zodiac, and once in love, you are very caring, sensitive, and ready to sacrifice for the sake of others, Farber says. This year, you may be called to use the most spiritual and powerful force in the Universe: forgiveness.
